B-42 CHRONOGRAPH GMT ALARM
As the first watch factory in the world for automatic wristwatches, FORTIS is pleased to look back on a long tradition in the development of precision chronographs for air and space travel. For pilots and space travellers, people who live their lives above the clouds, things have to remain sober and practical to be effective in their hard, day-to-day routines. Sporting both a diameter of 42 millimetres and solid construction, these timepieces fulfil the requirements for precision and extreme functionality. Three technically demanding model variations differ from the rest in their practical use as an automatic chronograph, additionally sporting a separately adjustable second time zone or a chronograph with an integrated mechanical alarm. All of the functions can be set in an uncomplicated manner by using the crown. A premiere in the shape of visual triangle indications make the correction of date, GMT time, and Alarm easier.
Original design and superior Swiss watchmaking distinguish the FORTIS B-42 chronographs, absolutely unmistakable with their majestic diameter of 42 millimetres. The elegant, finely brushed stainless steel case is water-resistant to 200 meters (20 ATM) and contains a choice of chronograph, chronograph GMT with separate second time zone, or chronograph with integrated alarm. The watches are serially outfitted with a high-quality sapphire crystal, anti-reflective on both sides. It protects the silver-colored dial with embossed numerals and well-structured function displays. The screwing down of both the crown and the back guarantees a water-resistance of 200 meters (20 ATM). All of the automatic movements have stop-seconds, fine adjustment, shock protection, and 28,800 beats per hour. Each watch is individually numbered. The solid construction including a screwed-in crown, protected pushers, and bands that are screwed directly into the case guarantees durability. The patented FORTIS Alarm Caliber F2001 is the successful combination of a stop function with an alarm mechanism. This watch movement is worldwide a unique, patented horological complication. Two spring barrels take care that both movement and alarm are self-winding. According to historical sketches from the FORTIS archives, a circle of blue stars decorates both the rotor and the movement of the FORTIS B-42 Alarm Chronograph, a characteristic typical in the 1940s.
